School and community group visits are very welcome at Stirling Castle. This section explains what we can offer to make sure they enjoy a successful visit.
Educational visits to Stirling Castle during May to August inclusive can still be booked, but there will be an entry charge of £2 per child aged 15 and under; the full admission rate is charged for young adults aged 16 and over.
General visits are not available to school groups in May and June. Visits during this period are exclusive to our Schools Programme and early booking is recommended. How to book an educational visit
We respond to requests to support local community learning and development wherever possible. Learning Officers have worked with a range of community groups, who have used properties such as Stirling Castle to learn about their local heritage and to inspire creativity in a variety of media.
If you have an idea for a project with Stirling Castle, please contact the Stirling Castle Learning Officer directly.
Continued Professional Development (CPD)
Learning Services offer a variety of free CPD events for teachers at many of our sites. These events aim to help teachers develop the skills to use historic sites effectively in support of classroom teaching, as well as to provide the opportunity to try out some of the on-site resources and activities.
Some events specifically train teachers in how to lead an educational visit to an historic site through developing observation and evidence finding techniques, incorporating storytelling, and using costumes and artefacts.
