Renaissance Dance Workshop

As a little girl living at Stirling Castle Mary, Queen of Scots and her playmates would have been surrounded by music and dance. Elegant, courtly and restrained – it was a world away from what happens today.
Renaissance dance of the kind Mary, Queen of Scots learned was beautiful to watch and a pleasure to perform. We are helping a new generation to discover the delights of 16th-century dance at workshops for primary age children on
Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th June at 11am and 2pm.The sessions will be led by Kirsten Wood, the castle’s talented education officer, who regularly teaches Renaissance dance to youngsters. Once the workshops are over, those who wish to, can dress up in costume and take part in a little public display in the glorious surroundings of the Chapel Royal. It’ll be one of those days when parents will definitely want to cherish for many years to come.
