Pipe and Drum Spectacular
Witness pipers, drummers and traditional dancers battle it out in a spectacular contest at the castle. Some of the hottest young talent from all round Scotland will be taking part in what should be a truly impressive display of Scottish culture, organised by the army’s Officer Training Corps.

Pipers will compete as soloists, in fours and bands of up to 20. The drummers will challenge each other as soloists and in small groups. There will be Scottish country dancing and Highland dancing, which takes place with swords and in full regalia. The competitors will make full use of the castle, with judges walking round to mark them.
Taking place on
Saturday, 19 March 2011, from
10am to 4pm, it will be a great chance for visitors to enjoy superb Scottish entertainment in the setting of one of the country’s most beautiful historic locations. The grand finale will see a massing of the pipes and drums to beat the retreat in the Queen Anne Gardens, and march out to the esplanade.
