City of Glasgow College
Kirsten Wood (Learning Development Officer, Stirling Castle), has been working in partnership with the HND Model making Students from the college for the past 8 years. Students over the years have created amazing modelling. both stand alone and interactive which have been used at a number of Historic Scotland sites with educational groups.
The most recent project involved the students creating a forensic handling box related to the Stirling Knight. They worked with Cambusbarron Primary School to create an educational kit based on a replica of the warrior’s skeleton, which was excavated from beneath a lost royal chapl. The story of the knight, who may have been Sir John de Stricheley who died in 1341, became famous last year after it featured on the hit BBC2 History Cold Case series.
The Medieval Knight Forensic Handling Box is an exciting way for children to learn a range of science, maths and archaeological skills.
