Rebirth of the Palace
As regular readers will know, in June this year Historic Scotland completed a £12 million project to return Stirling Castle’s royal palace to how it may have looked in the mid 16th century. The recreation of the Renaissance interiors has been based on detailed research by academics and expert craftsmen to ensure the results are as close to the original interiors as possible.

The conference
Rebirth of the Palace will present aspects of this research in papers given by those who worked on the project. Topics covered will include courtly life in Scotland and Europe in the sixteenth century, the influences on the architecture and decoration at Stirling and of course the magnificent Stirling Heads and Unicorn Tapestries.
The conference will also include a reception in the Great Hall at Stirling Castle and tours of the newly refurbished palace.
The event will take place on
26th & 27th 2011 November at Stirling University’s Pathfoot Lecture Theatre.
