A swordsman in the Great Hall, a troupe of other actors in period costume, plus a film crew – what’s going on? We wanted e-newsletter readers to be the first to hear about the brand new TV advert Historic Scotland is making to promote the opening of the Renaissance royal palace.



This is the first photo that has been made public and shows a dramatic moment during the initial filming, which took place in late March. The advert is the centrepiece of a wider promotional campaign that we will be running this summer to promote the great day out people can expect at the castle. The ad, and the rest of the campaign, are intended to be light-hearted and fun, giving everyone a glimpse into the lives of Stirling Castle’s “stars of the past”.
