The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is making a welcome return to the castle to perform a concert of popular classics. This ever-popular event takes place in the Great Hall at 8pm on Thursday, 2nd June, 2011 and offers a delightful programme, under the baton of Bulgarian conductor, Danail Rachev.

A highlight promises to be the Koussevitsky Concerto, performed by the SCO’s brilliant young bassist Nikita Naumov. It is a fine example of Russian Romanticism which the composer, himself a virtuoso double bassist, dedicated to his fiancée. The concert will also include Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 The Clock and the Mendelssohn overture, The Fair Melusine.
