Our thanks to everyone who entered the “My Stirling Castle” competition.  We had some great entries, all very different and some very poignant, from people near and far.  After some deliberation however our winner was John Stirling Moir of Santa Cruz, California whose entry evoked the anticipation and excitement of visiting Stirling Castle.

To celebrate the New Stirling Heads Exhibition we asked you to tell us who you would like to see in a 21st-century inspired ceiling.  And again we had some great suggestions from Robert the Bruce, Rabbie Burns and Walter Scott to Nelson Mandela and Phil Cunningham.  Our winner Liz Baines of Castle Douglas thought that Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s contribution to the world of design and architecture made him a natural choice and we agreed. One thing is for sure we have plenty of great Scots to fill several ceilings!
