One of the new additions to Stirling Castle as a result of the Palace project has been the introduction of the post of Visitor Experience Manager.
In this great new position, my role is to make sure that every single person coming through the castle gateway really gets to experience the wow-factor of the culmination of a huge amount of work over many years.
I’ve lived locally and worked in the tourism industry for some time and it’s around 40 years ago that I first heard about the ambitious proposals to refurbish the royal apartments and palace as they would have looked in their Renaissance heyday.
Back then it seemed a near impossible scheme, but now here we about to open and I’m thrilled to be here, coming into the project at such an exciting time in a job devoted to making sure all our visitors can enjoy the magnificence of the palace and have a truly wonderful experience in it.
I work closely with the stewards and costumed performers who will be crucial to explaining how we know what the 16th century apartments would have looked like and how such an incredible achievement of recreating them has been achieved.
We have just over a fortnight now to make sure we have everything prepared for our grand opening and we’re ready to reveal the palace in all its glory on what will be a wonderful weekend. Stirling Castle Presents – A Palace Fit For A Queen on 4th and 5th June really will be a very special event for all of us and I hope many of you will be able to join us for our celebrations.
To make sure you don’t miss out on the chance to enjoy all the great entertainment and activities we’ve planned, do book now.
